Connect Claude to Unclass
Use Claude to read your school's lesson library and, with your permission, create and edit lessons through the Unclass MCP connection. You need an active Unclass teacher account and access to remote connectors in Claude.
How to connect
- Open Claude's Settings → Connectors. If Unclass is available in the connector directory, select it. Otherwise, use Add custom connector if your account allows it.
- For a custom connector, name it Unclass and enter this remote MCP server URL:
https://school.unclass.app/mcp. - Choose Connect and sign in to Unclass with your teacher account when prompted. You do not need a model API key or to paste an OAuth token.
- Check the teacher, school, and assistant on the Unclass consent screen. Review read access and any requested write access, then select Connect to return to Claude.
- Enable Unclass for your conversation using Claude's connector controls, then ask it to list your courses.
Connector names and availability may vary with Claude's interface, plan, and workspace settings. Your workspace administrator may need to allow the connection. If you cannot add or enable a connector, use the Unclass website editor or manual lesson import while you resolve access.
If authorization fails, check the server URL and your active teacher account. If reads work but changes fail, check your granted write permissions in Unclass Account settings; authoring may also be temporarily paused.
Read and write permissions
- Read access lets the assistant list and read your school's courses, lessons, pages, and sections, including teacher notes, authored exercise answers, and saved media references. Access is not limited to the lesson mentioned in your chat.
- Write access additionally lets it create and edit content, duplicate, move and reorder supported content, publish or archive lessons, and delete authoring content. Read-only connections cannot save changes. Deletion has no undo.
- The connection does not expose student records, student answers or progress, messages, personal dictionaries, classroom invitation links, or other schools' content. Frozen classroom lesson copies cannot be edited.
- If requested and approved, account identification shares your Unclass account identifier; email access also shares your email address.
Connecting alone does not change your lessons. Review the permissions on the Unclass consent screen before approving.
Example prompts
Replace the example IDs with the IDs returned by the assistant.
List my courses with their IDs so I can choose one. Do not change anything.
In existing course ID 123, create a draft A2 lesson about ordering food. Include a short dialogue, a vocabulary list, and five gap-fill questions with answers. Return the Teacher preview and Edit lesson links. Do not publish it.
Read lesson ID 456 in course ID 123. Shorten text section ID 789 on page ID 321 for an A2 learner. Leave all other sections unchanged and return the Teacher preview link.
Read lesson ID 456 in course ID 123 and suggest three improvements. Do not save changes until I ask.
Review lessons and add images
Open the returned Teacher preview link to check the saved lesson, and use Edit lesson to make adjustments. New lessons start as drafts; mark them ready when you are happy with them.
Images are added in the website editor. Ask the assistant to leave an empty image section, then open Edit lesson in Unclass and add your image there. Only upload images you have permission to use.
The latest successful save wins, whether it comes from chat or the website. Avoid saving an old editor form over newer assistant changes. If a request times out, ask the assistant to read the saved content before retrying: repeating a creation request can produce duplicates.
Expiry, disconnecting, and privacy
Connections expire 30 days after authorization. Reconnect and approve permissions again to continue.
To disconnect sooner, open Account → AI assistant connections in the Unclass school portal and select Disconnect beside the connection. This revokes access without deleting your lessons or undoing saved changes. It does not erase content already received by the AI provider.
Do not put passwords, access tokens, student details, or private classroom links in chat. Personal information included in lesson text or teacher notes can be read by the assistant. See our privacy policy for token handling and AI-provider data processing.
